HAIR REMOVAL

Electrolysis for Hair Removal

Electrolysis is an intricate process requiring skill, patience, and a sound knowledge of background factors to ensure success.

Cristina is a highly skilled Electrologist with over 35 year’s experience in this highly exclusive treatment. Unlike IPL, Electrolysis will treat and permanently remove blonde, grey and red hair. Mole hairs can be removed with this method of hair removal.

Electrolysis destroys the growth cells of the hair follicle, preventing treated hairs from growing back. Treatment can be applied to most facial and body parts including eyebrows, chin, upper and lower lip, jaw line, sides of the face, breasts, underarms, abdomen, bikini line, fingers and toes, legs and back.

The Electrologist slides a hair-thin needle into each targeted hair follicle a current is passed through the needle  to destroy the hair and a tweezer is used to glide the treated hair out.

There are generally no permanent side effects, but sometimes a temporary, slight reddening of the skin may occur.

What Causes Unwanted Hair Growth?

Hair growth is the result of heredity and hormone levels. Also, some drugs, and illnesses can stimulate hair growth.

How many treatments will I need?

Many factors influence hair growth, so you will need to return for several electrolysis visits. The total number of sessions needed to remove hair from a particular area will vary from person to person. Most clients return once a week or every other week as needed.

Electrolysis versus laser hair removal

  • Laser: The mainstream laser unit can only be used on those with light skin and dark hair. It can burn those with dark skin and not give optimal results for people with light hair because the laser targets pigment (dark color).

  • Electrolysis: Can be used on anyone despite their skin or hair color because it attacks the hair follicle itself, and not the pigment in the hair.

Electrolysis Tip

For a more comfortable treatment, avoid caffeine for a few hours before your appointment.

Hydrate – Drinking plenty of water before your treatment helps unwanted hair slide right out

Gentle exfoliation before your treatment opens up the follicles allowing easier insertion down the hair shaft.

Did you know?

If your electrologist can't see the hairs, they can't zap the hairs. Plucking, waxing, threading, or tweezing before your hair removal appointment reduces the number of hairs your electrologist can remove

It's okay to cut or shave between treatments, but never tweeze! Or wax

Dermaplaining

Dermaplaning is a cosmetic procedure used to exfoliate the skin and remove vellus hair, commonly known as "peach fuzz," from the face. It involves using a sterile surgical scalpel to gently scrape the surface of the skin, effectively removing dead skin cells, debris, and fine hairs. This process leaves the skin feeling smoother, softer, and more radiant.

Here's how the dermaplaning procedure typically works:

  1. Preparation: Before the procedure begins, the skin is thoroughly cleansed and prepared. This may involve removing any makeup, oils, or impurities from the skin's surface.

  2. Application of Gel or Serum (Optional): Some practitioners may apply a gentle gel or serum to the skin to help lubricate it and facilitate the movement of the scalpel. This step can also provide additional skincare benefits, such as hydration or exfoliation.

  3. Dermaplaning: Using a sterile surgical scalpel held at a 45-degree angle, the skincare professional carefully scrapes the surface of the skin in small, upward strokes. The scalpel removes dead skin cells, debris, and fine hairs from the outermost layer of the skin.

  4. Post-Treatment Care: After dermaplaning, the skin may be slightly red or sensitive, similar to a mild sunburn. Skincare professionals typically apply a soothing moisturizer or sunscreen to protect the skin and minimize any discomfort. It's essential to avoid sun exposure and apply sunscreen regularly in the days following the procedure to protect the newly exfoliated skin.

Dermaplaning is known for its immediate results, as it effectively removes surface debris and reveals smoother, brighter skin. Some of the potential benefits of dermaplaning include:

  • Exfoliation: Dermaplaning removes dead skin cells from the surface of the skin, promoting cell turnover and revealing fresh, radiant skin underneath.

  • Hair Removal: In addition to exfoliation, dermaplaning effectively removes vellus hair from the face, leaving the skin smoother and creating a more even complexion.

  • Enhanced Product Absorption: By removing the outer layer of dead skin cells, dermaplaning can improve the absorption and effectiveness of skincare products, allowing them to penetrate deeper into the skin.

  • Smooth Makeup Application: Dermaplaning creates a smooth canvas for makeup application, allowing foundation and other cosmetics to glide on more evenly and adhere better to the skin.

Overall, dermaplaning is a popular cosmetic procedure that can provide immediate improvements in skin texture and appearance. However, it's essential to consult with a qualified skincare professional before undergoing dermaplaning to ensure that it's the right treatment for your skin type and concerns.

Alkaline Wash For Hair Removal

Alkaline Wash is the latest way to significantly reduce hair, especially effective for fine downy hair on the face.  The process itself is remarkably simple and it takes about 15-20 minutes for smaller body parts and for larger areas up to 45 minutes. Alkaline Hair Wash does NOT promote thicker hair growth or stimulate dormant hair follicles.

What is Alkaline and how does it work?

Alkaline wash is an alkaline powder that is mixed into a paste and applied to the desired area for a short period of time, depending on the coarseness of the hair. The alkaline wash is not like a hair removal cream. It is of a much higher pH, swelling the hair shaft, and as it dissolves the hair, some of the Alkaline Wash solution enters the hair shaft, damaging and weakening the papilla the hair grows from, reducing hair regrowth.

After the first treatment hair will grow back at its normal rate, but as treatments progress the rate of regrowth will lessen, usually resulting in a reduction of hair growth and some permanent loss over a period of time.

All skin types and ethnicities can be treated adjusting the process for the individual. A patch test (done 48 - 72 hours before treatment) and consultation are required. The treatment not only removes the fine velous hair but also acts as an exfoliate which will leave the skin smooth and refined. Home Prescriptives are needed, following treatment.

This amazing DMK product offers a solution to ingrown hairs on bikini line and is very effective in the treatment of folliculitis.
